New efficiencies on the way as CBS rolls out PDAs for trade operatives

Rapid growth leads housing maintainer to automate field communications
Leading housing maintenance provider Community Building Services (CBS), is automating its remote working to cope with rapid growth.
It has selected the Pervasic MobileOne Housing Maintenance Solution with the aim of streamlining its services, increasing productivity and keeping to its service level agreements (SLAs). It will be deployed to 100 staff over the coming months.
CBS works with a number of housing providers in London and the South East providing a 24/7 response service as well as appointments. CBS maintains a housing stock of 20,000 homes and conducts more than 80,000 repairs per year.
John Bell, managing director of CBS, said: ‘Our operational areas are growing rapidly and we are moving to a regional base. Our previous way of working generated considerable paper and meant our tradesmen had to continually come back and forth to the office to collect new job sheets. With 90 vans on the road, we wanted to empower staff to work more efficiently and more remotely.’

CBS will be deploying the new system to 100 staff, including supervisors, in the summer. The system will link to CBS’ Opti-time Scheduling System and Comino CTX repairs system, all of which will be run from the company’s 24/7 customer service centre, which provides a 'one call does it all' service. Pervasic will configure and customise its MobileOne Housing Maintenance Solution to reflect CBS’ own branding, workflow and operational procedures.
’We wanted a way of streamlining all of our services, increasing our productivity and reducing downtime,” added Bell. “We have a commitment of maintaining service level agreements with our clients and we wanted a reliable system that would meet all of these objectives while improving service to residents. Pervasic has an extremely good track record. There are a select few companies that are truly tried and tested in the maintenance market and Pervasic is one of them.’
The system is expected to be fully deployed and operational by summer 2007.
