Ship comes in for CBS
21.04.2008Community Building Services (CBS) has appointed a new chair of its board to further improve its repairs and maintenance service for social housing clients.
Ken Shipman, who has worked in the housing sector for 30 years, was previously chair of Wherry Housing Association, the second stock transfer organisation in the country. Ken runs his own estate agents, based in Norwich, and is Chair of Team Anglia. Ken was also previously a board member of Circle Anglia and the Chair of the National Association of Estate Agents in Norfolk.
With a wide breadth of public and private housing expertise, Ken’s experience will help CBS to ensure that the condition of existing social housing is continually improved and that its service better meets the needs of its customers.
Ken joined CBS for a new challenge. He said: “I was excited by the opportunity to be involved in a business that had a dedicated focus on repairs and maintenance. It is a completely fresh but still the same sector which I know and enjoy working in. I wanted to put my skills and experience to use in a different way outside my paid work and help make a practical difference to the wider community.
“CBS is a good, vibrant company. Everyone I have met is full of enthusiasm and I’m pleased to say that the company appears to be very well thought of judging by the feedback received from its customers and partners.”
John Bell, managing director, said: “Ken is a real asset to our team and I’m sure that his in-depth experience of the sector will bring a fresh perspective and sound input to the board. I am looking forward to working together to meet our shared aims of raising the standard of social housing.”
